INTRODUCTION TO GLAZES  with Isaac Patmore

Saturday 16th July 10am – 4pm
+ results follow-up Sunday 24th July 2022 2pm – 3pm

Never mixed a glaze before? Don’t understand what a flux is? This workshop is for you.

Introduction to Glazes is for potters & ceramic artists who are at the beginning of their glazing journeys. The workshop will cover the fundamentals of glaze making, exploring key glaze ingredients, how these ingredients behave in a glaze composition & why the different components are needed to make the glaze work. Students will be taught how to mix glazes from scratch, choosing 3 recipes from our huge selection, to mix and test with.

The tests will all be fired, and then the group gets together again a week later to discuss the results and ask more questions.

Students will be supplied with all materials and equipment to make glazes, and some tiles for testing glazes.

Students are encouraged to bring some of their own bisqued STONEWARE work to glaze if they would like. Students are required to bring their own safety gear, such as respirators/face masks and enclosed shoes.

Workshop fee includes all materials & firings as well as lunch & refreshments (lunch provided for Saturday 16th).
